Well, I think it was Ikeda Nobuo's blog (very good one BTW) that said Japan has more blogs than any other country because a large proportion of them are spam/porn.

blog.with2.net ranking is made only from blogs who join their program, and counted by visitors' clicking tracking links, so it is like link-exchange program. recenly cheated a lot.

Kizasi is an interesting service I may soon be blogging about. I have an article from Nikkei Weekly (April 30, 2007) here in which Inagaki Yoichi (managigng director) said they plan to set up an English version "shortly". I hope that will become reality soon.

I'd take a wild guess that there are more tech blogs on there as readers of these blogs are more likely to have their own web sites to link from.

Readers of other blogs such as the arts, politics, music etc. are less likely to have their own blogs. So there are likely some blogs with very high readership but relatively few incoming links.

Yes, technorati's count is not really good - here in Germany, one blogger publishes the "German Blog Charts" for which he uses the data from technorati, but sorts out all manipulations. The difference between these charts and the original database is extreme.

I really wonder, why there are so many successful blogging stars in the far eastern blogosphere - whether it's Japan, China or Singapore, they top the charts. In Germany, it is really different - there are some well known blogging journalists or so, but it's just a handful of them. (And here, they are always grumbling there were few political bloggers in Germany. Just 10 percent of the top 100...)

I am aware that Technorati's rating system is heavily flawed. As you will know, there are even instructions the web on how to manipulate your blog's Technorati rank.

So the list is meant to point out a tendency on which blogs are popular here in Japan.

I should have remarked this in the original post so I am thankful for your comment.

If you or my other readers know an alternative to Technorati's ranking, please let me know!

Serkan & Friends: Nice blog! But Technorati became Crap-o-rati a long time ago. I've been using them since just after they beagn their service. I used to get (no lie) 100+ visitors per day that were referrals as a result of Technorati Tags. My humble blog at that time racked up maybe 250-300 visitors a day. Nowadays, even when I hit 1000 readers a day, I can tag T'rati and tag T'rati and ping T'rati and I don't get a single reader driven to my blog from them.

Things changed when they began allowing MySpace pages as blogs.

Serkan I am putting a link here to a "top 10" I recently posted, and if you click on the picture of Chinese blogger Xu Jinglei, you'll arrive at the story how Technorati ignored the world's #1 blogger for 18 months...

There is a VERY high focus on Tech and Otaku/Geek topics here, that's for sure.
The American Technorati hit list also features lots of these. However, in the US political blogs are much stronger as you will know. Sorry, but at least to my knowledge there is no "www.huffingtonpost.com"-like blog here.
